1Fields on this screen #
- Connection Name * — how the connection shows in the explorer tree; unique across connections.
- Connection Type — picking it fills the usual port and SSL setting: FTP → 21, SFTP → 22, FTPS → 990 with SSL on. The port stays editable for non-standard servers; the SSL switch is managed by the type.
- Host / Server * and Port — the server address.
- Remote Path — the folder on the server the explorer starts in (e.g. /documents ).
- Public URL — optional base address used when building shareable links to files.
- Timeout / Read-Write Timeout — connection and transfer limits in milliseconds (default 15000).
- Use Binary / Use Passive / Keep Alive — classic FTP transfer options; leave the defaults unless the server demands otherwise.
2Step by step #
A connection is a storage backend documents physically live on.
- Press Add (F3) , define the connection and its credentials, save with F5 .
- New folders can then choose it as their store.
3How passwords are handled #
- Passwords are encrypted on the server before they are stored, and a stored password is never sent back to the browser — the form only shows whether one exists.
- When modifying, flip Change password on to type a new one (both boxes must match — "Password mismatch" otherwise). Leaving the switch off keeps the current password untouched; turning it on and saving with blank boxes clears it.
4Toolbar & keyboard #
- Find (F2) loads a connection from the searchable list; Add (F3) starts a new one (the page also opens ready to add); Modify (F4) edits the loaded record; Save (F5) saves after a confirmation; Esc cancels the edit.
- Enter moves to the next field throughout the form and lands on Save at the end.
- After a save the record stays on screen in view mode; press Add (F3) for the next one.
5Who can open this screen? Integrity rules #
- Needs the Document Management subscription on the licence AND an administrator login (admin / administrator / superadmin / sysadmin) — same gate as Document Permissions.
- Connection names are unique — saving a duplicate name is refused with a friendly message.
- A connection that already has folders/files in the document explorer can't be deleted — remove its contents in the explorer first.
This is the help InvoiceNET® ERP shows beside the Document Connections screen. Whether you have the screen depends on the modules of your licence and the rights your administrator has given you.
