1How to work in this page #
- Find (F2): search by name or description.
- Add (F3): create a new stock group. Cursor lands on Name.
- Modify (F4): edit the loaded stock group.
- Delete: remove the current stock group (view mode), with confirmation.
- Save (F5): commit the add / modify. Name is required and must be unique.
- Cancel (Esc): discard the current edit.
2Step by step #
Stock groups split ONE product's stock into named lots — qualities, lots, seasons — that price and track separately.
- Press Add (F3) and name the group — Grade A .
- Press Save (F5) and confirm.
3How stock groups are used on products #
This page only names the stock groups. The actual splitting of a product across groups happens on the product itself: the product's Stock Group Allocation screen lets you enter opening quantity and value for each group the product belongs to, and optionally a different price per group. So the workflow is to define the group names here first, then allocate opening stock and prices product by product.
Because a group can hold opening balances and prices for many products, a group name is meant to be stable once it is in use.
4Rules and integrity #
- The stock-group name must be unique; a duplicate is refused before saving.
- A stock group can carry opening stock and prices for many products. Deleting a group that still has product allocations can strand those balances, so retire a group you no longer use rather than deleting it.
This is the help InvoiceNET® ERP shows beside the Stock Group Master screen. Whether you have the screen depends on the modules of your licence and the rights your administrator has given you.
