1What this screen is for #
- Menu path: Warehouse Management > Counting > Count. Route /warehouse/count . Made for a phone; the same with a USB scanner at a desk.
- The list shows the bins of the counts the stock controller started on the Count Desk, in walking order. A bin marked Count again is a recount.
- Open a bin by scanning its label, or with its Count button. While you have it open nobody else can take it.
- Enter the quantity of every item listed, in the unit shown - 0 where there is none. A line left blank stops the send.
- Something in the bin that is not listed : scan it. It is added as "not on the list"; enter how many.
- Nothing in the bin at all: tick The bin is empty .
- Send the count (F5) records your figures. Put the bin back closes the bin without recording anything, for somebody else to take.
- A bin you counted first is never given to you for its recount: a second pair of eyes counts it.
- A bin being counted is frozen: do not put stock into it or take stock out until the count is over.
2Toolbar & keyboard #
- Scan (F2) puts the cursor in the scan box. Send the count (F5) . Esc closes a dialog; with none open, the page.
- Rights, on the object WMS - Tasks: Count: View opens the screen, Execute counts.
3If something does not work #
"You do not hold the right to open Count. An administrator grants it in User Manager, Masters tab, on the object WMS - Tasks: Count (View)." / "... count a bin ... (Execute)" / "You may look at the bins to count, but not count them ..."
- Why
- Count opens with View on WMS - Tasks: Count; counting needs Execute.
- What to do
- An administrator ticks the right for you in User Manager, Masters tab.
No bin is waiting to be counted
- Why
- No count is open for this storage space, or all its bins are counted.
- What to do
- The stock controller starts a count on the Count Desk.
"Nothing was scanned." / "'...' is not a bin of this storage space." / "Bin ... is not waiting to be counted." / "Typing a code is switched off (WMS Settings, Scanning). Scan the bin's label."
- Why
- On the list a scan opens the bin whose label it is - when the bin is in an open count and still to count.
- What to do
- Scan the label on the bin itself; or press Count on its row. A bin not on the list is not in a count.
"Bin ... is to be counted again, and you counted it first: a recount is done by someone else. Take another bin."
- Why
- A recount is a second pair of eyes: the first counter does not count the bin again.
- What to do
- Take another bin; a colleague counts this one.
"That bin is no longer in a count. Press Refresh." / "Count ... is <status> - nothing more is counted on it." / "Bin ... is not yours to count any more - open it again from the list."
- Why
- The count was posted or cancelled, the bin was left out, or the bin stood open so long that somebody else took it.
- What to do
- Press Refresh and take a bin from the list.
"Bin ... is open. Send its count, or put it back, before changing the storage space."
- Why
- One bin is counted at a time.
- What to do
- Send the count (F5), or Put the bin back.
"That is not an item's code, barcode or part number." / "'...' is not an item's code, barcode, part number or lot label." / "Typing a code is switched off (WMS Settings, Scanning). Scan the item's label."
- Why
- With a bin open, a scan is read as an item: to jump to its line, or to add an item the list does not show.
- What to do
- Scan the item's own label. A bin label is not scanned while a bin is open.
"Enter what is there of ... - 0 if there is none." / "...: a counted quantity cannot be below zero." / "...: ... is not a quantity a bin holds."
- Why
- Every listed item needs a figure. A blank is not a zero: the screen cannot tell a forgotten line from an empty one.
- What to do
- Enter the quantity of each line - 0 where there is none. All missing lines are listed at once.
"... was added as not on the list: enter how many are there, or take it off." / "An item added as not on the list needs a quantity above zero - or take it off." / "An item added as not on the list is on the list - enter its quantity there." / "The same item is added twice as not on the list."
- Why
- An item found in the bin that the list does not show is added by scanning it, with the quantity found.
- What to do
- Enter how many, or press Take off on the line.
"The bin is said to be empty, yet a quantity is entered. Clear the quantities, or untick Bin is empty."
- Why
- The bin is empty, or it holds something - not both.
- What to do
- Untick The bin is empty, or clear the quantities.
The screen does not say whether my count was right
- Why
- By design: the count is blind. A counter who is told the book figure, or told that a figure disagrees, counts towards it.
- What to do
- Count what is there. The stock controller sees the comparison on the Count Desk, and a bin outside the tolerance comes back for a recount by someone else.
This is the help InvoiceNET® ERP shows beside the Count screen. Whether you have the screen depends on the modules of your licence and the rights your administrator has given you.
