Item Warehouse Settings

The Item Master says what an item is . This screen says how the warehouse handles it: where it is picked from, how much is kept there, which zones it belongs in, and how it is counted and stacked.

1What this screen is for #

  • Menu path: Warehouse Management > Item Warehouse Settings. Route /warehouse/item-settings .
  • Give an item its pick bin in a storage space, with the least and most to keep in it.
  • Give the item its putaway class , count class , sizes and handling units - once, for every storage space.
  • Nothing is added or deleted here: every stock item is already listed, with empty settings until they are filled. To remove a setting, clear it and save.

2Step by step #

  1. Pick the storage space.
  2. Press Find (F2) , type part of the item's name, alias or code and press Enter.
  3. Click the item, press Modify (F4) .
  4. Pick its pick bin and the least and most to keep; fill what is known of the rest.
  5. Save (F5) and confirm. The item's card now shows the pick bin.

A company that used racks can set the pick bins of many items at once: Racks into bins on Warehouse layout.

3Toolbar & keyboard #

  • Find (F2) , Modify (F4) , Save (F5) , Cancel (Esc) ; Save and Cancel ask to confirm, with OK focused.
  • Esc in view mode closes the page. Enter moves field to field.
  • There is no Add and no Delete - see above.

4Fields #

  • Pick bin - a Pick face or Storage bin in use of this storage space. One per item and storage space.
  • Least / Most to keep - when the pick bin falls below the least it is topped up to the most. They need a pick bin.
  • Putaway class - free text, matched with a zone's putaway class (Cold, Hazardous, Bulk…).
  • Count class - A, B or C.
  • Expiry decides picking - earliest expiry first; only for batch-tracked items.
  • Width, Depth, Volume , Units per case , Cases per pallet - empty when not known.
  • The item's name, code, unit, batch tracking, weight and height come from the Item Master and are changed there.

5Which items are listed #

  • Stock items in use that are shared to every branch or allocated to the branch you signed in to.
  • The list shows 200 at a time; search to reach the rest.
  • Who may save is set in User Manager, on the objects WMS - Item Warehouse Settings and WMS - Pick Faces And Bin Item Rules .

6If something does not work #

"The pick bin must be a bin of this storage space. Pick it again." / "Bin ... is Inactive. Pick a bin in use."
Why
An item's pick bin is a bin in use of the storage space the settings are for.
What to do
Pick another bin.
"Bin ... is a ... bin. An item is picked from a Pick face or a Storage bin."
Why
A Receiving, Staging, Packing, Dispatch, QC hold, Damage or Returns bin is not somewhere stock is picked from.
What to do
Pick a Pick face or Storage bin, or change the bin's type on the Bin master.
"Least to keep (...) is above most to keep (...). The pick bin is topped up from the least up to the most." / "Least to keep can't be below zero." / "Most to keep can't be below zero."
Why
The pick bin is topped up when it falls below the least, up to the most; the least cannot be the larger.
What to do
Swap or correct the two quantities.
"Least and most to keep belong to a pick bin. Pick the bin, or clear the two quantities."
Why
The two quantities say when a pick bin is topped up; without a pick bin they say nothing.
What to do
Pick the bin, or clear the quantities.
"'...' is not batch-tracked, so it has no expiry dates to pick by. Switch batches on for the item on the Item Master first, or leave Expiry decides picking off."
Why
Expiry is kept on batches. An item without batches has no expiry to pick by.
What to do
Turn batch tracking on for the item on the Item Master, or leave the switch off.
"Count class must be A, B or C, or empty." / "Putaway class can't exceed 20 characters."
Why
The value is outside what the field holds.
What to do
Pick A, B or C; shorten the putaway class.
"Width must be above zero - leave it empty when it is not known." (also Depth, Volume, Units per case, Cases per pallet)
Why
A size or a handling quantity of zero means nothing.
What to do
Clear the box, or give a number above zero.
"That item no longer exists."
Why
The item was deleted while it was open here.
What to do
Search again.
"No stock item open to your branch has '...' in its name, alias or code." / an item is not in the list
Why
The list offers stock items in use that are shared to every branch or allocated to the branch you signed in to.
What to do
Check the spelling; then the item's Inactive mark, Affect Stock and branch allocation on the Item Master.
"No item with warehouse settings matches. Switch "Only items with settings" off to search every item."
Why
The switch limits the list to items that already have a pick bin here or a setting of their own.
What to do
Switch it off and search again.
"... has no Pick face or Storage bin in use, so no pick bin can be chosen yet. ..."
Why
A pick bin is chosen from the storage space's Pick face and Storage bins that are not Inactive, and it has none.
What to do
Create the bins on Warehouse layout. The item's own settings can be saved meanwhile.
"Showing ... of ... items - type part of a name or a code and press Enter."
Why
The list shows 200 items at a time.
What to do
Search for the item.
