1What this screen is for #
- Menu path: Warehouse Management > Task Board. Route /warehouse/task-board .
- The figures at the top count the whole storage space, whatever the list is narrowed to: Waiting (offered or given, not opened), In hand (open on a worker's name), Late , Not doable , Done today .
- The list is narrowed by Show (state), Zone and Worker , and searched by task number, item, bin or person.
- This delivery raises and works Move tasks: so much of an item from one bin to another. Putaway, pick and count tasks arrive with their own deliveries and will appear on this same board.
2The states of a task #
- Waiting - raised and offered (to anyone, or to a user group), or given to one person. Nobody has opened it.
- In hand - a worker opened it on My Tasks. It is locked to that worker.
- Confirmed - done; the stock has moved. It cannot be changed or cancelled; a wrong move is answered by another move.
- Not doable - the worker reported that it cannot be done, with a reason. It waits here for a decision: give it to somebody, or cancel it.
- Cancelled - with its reason.
- Late is not a state: it marks an open task past its due time.
3Raising a task, step by step #
- Press New task (F3) .
- Pick the From bin ; the Item list then shows what it holds free.
- Pick the Item and give the Quantity .
- Pick the To bin .
- Pick Who : anyone, a user group, or one person.
- Optionally set the Priority , a Due time and Remarks .
- Press Save (F5) . The task appears on the workers' My Tasks. No stock has moved.
4Give, re-order, cancel #
- Give sends an open task to anyone, a user group or one person. A task that was in a worker's hands leaves their list at once and appears on the new person's. A task reported as not doable is offered again and its reason cleared.
- Save priority changes the priority (1 first, 9 last) and the due time. The workers' lists follow: their own tasks first, then the offered ones by priority, due time and walking order.
- Cancel the task asks for a reason - it is compulsory. A confirmed or cancelled task cannot be cancelled.
- A task open on a worker's name and left untouched for longer than WMS task claim minutes (#299 on WMS Settings, 15 as delivered) goes back to waiting by itself; the history says so.
5Second check and paper lists #
- These are for a storage space that is not worked by scanning (Warehouse master, block Run by the WMS, Working method ).
- Second check : where the storage space asks for a second person on costly stock, the worker's Confirm is refused until somebody else has looked at the goods. Pick the task while it is open with the worker and press Second check. The person doing the task cannot check it himself. The same can be done from My Tasks by typing the task's number.
- Paper lists - no device on the floor. Press Print task list : the open tasks print with the item, the two bins, the quantity asked and empty Done and Sign columns. The floor works from the paper and writes what was done.
- When the list comes back, pick each task and press Confirm from paper . Type the quantity done. Less than the task asks needs the reason; more cannot be confirmed. Where no bin was suggested, type the bin the worker wrote.
- A task for an item held by serial number is not confirmed from paper - the units taken must be named: it is done on My Tasks.
- Confirm from paper needs the Alter right on WMS - Task Board. The stock moves at that moment, with the same checks as any confirmation, and the history says from the paper list, no scan .
6The history #
- Picking a task shows everything that happened to it, oldest first: raised, given, opened, let go, returned, confirmed, short, not doable, reopened, priority, cancelled - each with its time and person.
- Between them, every scan : what was read, whether it was scanned or typed , whether it was accepted or refused and why, and on which device.
- A task confirmed for less than asked shows the reason. A move on the spot from a phone shows as a task raised, opened and confirmed at the same moment.
- The history cannot be edited or deleted.
7Toolbar & keyboard #
- Refresh (F2) reads the tasks again - the board does not refresh by itself.
- New task (F3) opens the form; Save (F5) raises the task; Cancel (Esc) leaves the form, asking first when something was entered.
- Esc in view mode closes the page. Enter moves from field to field in the form.
- The confirm dialogs open with OK focused.
8Rules #
- A task is raised only for stock the From bin holds free, less what open Move tasks already ask of that bin and item.
- Both bins are Active bins of the same storage space, and they differ.
- A user group with nobody in it, or an inactive one, cannot be offered a task - nobody would see it.
- Rights, in User Manager, Masters tab: on WMS - Task Board - View opens the board, Alter gives and re-orders, Delete cancels; on WMS - Tasks: Move - Create raises a task.
- Only storage spaces run by the WMS have tasks.
9If something does not work #
"You do not hold the right to open the Task Board. An administrator grants it in User Manager, Masters tab, on the object WMS - Task Board (View)."
- Why
- The board asks for the View right on WMS - Task Board.
- What to do
- An administrator ticks View on WMS - Task Board for you.
"... is not run by the WMS - it has no bins, so it has no tasks." / "... is not run by the WMS - it has no bins to raise a task between."
- Why
- Only a storage space switched to the WMS has bins that hold stock.
- What to do
- Switch it on in the block Run by the WMS of the Warehouse master.
The board does not show a task a worker has just confirmed / the figures look old
- Why
- The board is read when it opens and when Refresh is pressed; it does not refresh by itself.
- What to do
- Press Refresh (F2).
A task shows Waiting again though a worker had opened it
- Why
- A task opened and left without a scan for longer than WMS task claim minutes (#299, 15 as delivered) goes back to waiting. Its history shows Returned, and who had it.
- What to do
- Nothing to do - or give the task to somebody. An administrator can change the time on WMS Settings, group Tasks.
"The first 500 are listed. Narrow the list with Show, Zone or Worker."
- Why
- The board lists at most 500 tasks at a time.
- What to do
- Narrow it - Show: Confirmed lists the newest finished tasks first.
"You do not hold the right to raise Move tasks. An administrator grants it in User Manager, Masters tab, on the object WMS - Tasks: Move (Create)."
- Why
- Raising a task asks for the Create right on that kind of task.
- What to do
- An administrator ticks Create on WMS - Tasks: Move for you.
"Pick the bin the stock is in (From bin)." / "Pick the item to move." / "The From bin holds nothing free to move. Pick a bin that holds stock." / "Pick the bin the stock goes to (To bin)." / "Pick who the task goes to - anyone, a user group or a person."
- Why
- A Move task needs the bin the stock is in, an item that bin holds, the bin it goes to, and who it is for. All that is missing is listed together.
- What to do
- Fill what the list names, then Save (F5).
"Give the quantity to move - a number above zero." / "The bin holds ... of it free to move. ... is more than that." / "Bin ... holds ... of the item free to move - the task asks for ...."
- Why
- The quantity must be above zero and no more than the From bin holds free (on hand less allocated).
- What to do
- Lower the quantity, or pick a bin that holds more.
"Bin ... holds ... of the item free to move, and open Move tasks already ask for ... of it. This task would ask for ... more."
- Why
- Other open Move tasks already take stock of that item from that bin. Raising this one would promise the same stock twice.
- What to do
- Lower the quantity, cancel or finish the other task, or take the stock from another bin.
"The To bin is the bin the stock is already in. Pick another." / "The stock is already in that bin. Pick another bin to move it to." / "The bin to move from is not a bin of this storage space. Pick it again." / "Pick the bin to move to - a bin of this storage space."
- Why
- A move goes between two different bins of the same storage space.
- What to do
- Pick the two bins again.
"Bin ... is ...: nothing leaves it until that ends." / "Bin ... is ...: stock is moved into a bin that is Active."
- Why
- The From bin is Blocked or being counted, or the To bin is not Active (it changed after the form opened).
- What to do
- Pick another bin, or put the bin's status right on Bin Master.
"The user group the task is offered to has nobody in it, or is inactive. Nobody would see the task." / "Pick who the task is offered to from the list - a user or a user group." / "Pick the person the task is given to from the list."
- Why
- A task is offered to a user group only when the group is active and has members.
- What to do
- Add the workers to the group (Admin > User Group), or offer the task to anyone or to one person.
"The due time has already passed. Pick a time to come, or leave it empty." / "The due time has already passed. Pick a time to come, or clear it." / "The priority is 1 (first) to 9 (last)." / "The remarks can't exceed 500 characters."
- Why
- A due time is in the future; the priority is 1 to 9; the remarks hold 500 characters.
- What to do
- Correct the field.
"A ... task cannot be raised by hand - only: Move."
- Why
- This delivery raises Move tasks only. Putaway, pick and count tasks will be raised by their own screens when those deliveries arrive.
- What to do
- Raise a Move, or use the Putaway and Picking screens.
"T-... raised: ... of ... from ... to .... Nothing has moved yet - it moves when the task is confirmed."
- Why
- Not an error: the task is raised.
- What to do
- Nothing to do; the worker sees it on My Tasks.
"You do not hold the right to give a task to somebody. ..." / "You do not hold the right to change a task's priority. ..." / the block Supervisor is not shown
- Why
- Giving and re-ordering ask for Alter on WMS - Task Board; the block shows only for an open task and only the actions you hold the right for.
- What to do
- An administrator ticks Alter (and Delete, to cancel) on WMS - Task Board for you.
"You do not hold the right to cancel a task. An administrator grants it in User Manager, Masters tab, on the object WMS - Task Board (Delete)."
- Why
- Cancelling asks for the Delete right on WMS - Task Board.
- What to do
- An administrator ticks Delete on WMS - Task Board for you.
"Say why the task is cancelled. A task is not cancelled without a reason." / "The reason can't exceed 200 characters."
- Why
- A cancel needs a reason of up to 200 characters.
- What to do
- Type the reason and press OK.
"T-... is already Confirmed - it cannot be cancelled. Refresh the board." / "T-... is already Cancelled - it cannot be given to somebody. Refresh the board." / "... - it cannot be re-ordered. Refresh the board."
- Why
- The task was finished or cancelled after the board was read. A finished task is not changed; a wrong move is answered by another move.
- What to do
- Press Refresh (F2).
"That task no longer exists. Refresh the board."
- Why
- The board on the screen is older than the database.
- What to do
- Press Refresh (F2).
"T-...: given to ...; it was open with ...." / "T-...: offered to ...." / "T-...: priority ... to ...." / "T-... cancelled. Nothing had moved."
- Why
- Not an error: what was done.
- What to do
- Nothing to do.
